Scott and Amy Kelley had been kicking around starting a brewery in Ennis for years but it wasn’t until the Fall of 2018 that it all came together due to a well timed phone call to their (now) head brewer, Dave McAdoo. One afternoon, Scott called Dave to gauge his interest in coming on board as head brewer if he were able to start a brewery. As fate would have it, that very day Dave had received a copy of How to Start your Own Brewery in the mail. Scott and Dave took that as a sign from the beer Gods and committed to making Burnt Tree a reality.
After jumping through a bunch of hoops and bringing Amy’s brother, Jeff, aboard, we opened our doors in August of 2019.
Named after a fishing access just a few miles upstream of the brewery on the Madison River, Burnt Tree is a proudly Montana-centric brewery. We source a vast majority of our ingredients from Montana growers. Our beer isn’t available outside of Montana. In fact, our beer is rarely available outside our tap room. When it does leave Ennis, you’ll find Burnt Tree at legendary Southwest Montana spots such as Maverick Mountain, Norris Hot Springs, The Brothel, Shine Beer Sanctuary or the Hop Lounge.
When you visit Burnt Tree, expect to find a diverse line up of beers crafted with an attention to detail and of course a whole lota Montana love.
